Advanced & Intermediate Powerskating
Age: (range) 6 years old & up (please see below)
Class length: 1 hour
Prerequisite: 2 years of hockey (including 1 full year in Novice) or ringette
Cost: $570 (20 WEEKS)
The Advanced/Intermediate Power skating program will be operated by instructors from Quantum Speed High Performance Skating Systems.
The ladder to Advanced Power for your skater
Step #1 - Intro to Power is for 5 - 7 year olds that have PASSED Level 2 Basic skating. The skater is able to skate forwards, backwards and stop. This is for the skater from our Basic Skating programs that are ready for the basics of Power Skating
Step #2 - Intermediate Power is usually for 6 - 9 year olds that have graduated from Intro to Power by recommendation of the Lead Instructor or has had 2 years of hockey/ringette where skating forwards and backwards with stopping both directions, more control of edges and cross overs, transitions are recognizable.
Step #3 - Advanced Power is usually for 9 years and older with 3 - 4 years hockey/ringette experience. (** If you are new to hockey at 9 years of age, we recommend you start at Intro to Power). The Advanced Power skater demonstrates proficiency in all fundamental skating skills. Forward and backward skating are performed with ease, speed, and confidence. Edge control on each foot is well developed, transitions are smooth and efficient, and speed is maintained throughout changes of direction and movement.
Each participant MUST fulfill the prerequisites posted on the class category
Equipment Requirement: Please be advised that all students are REQUIRED to wear full hockey or ringette equipment, including an appropriate stick.
